WHATS IN A NAME?:

Would Treasure Island have sold 19-million copies if Robert Louis Stevenson had stuck with its original title - The Sea Cook. We live in hopes for Dolphin Island Trail (right) popular with boys as well as girls.

Squire Trelawney, Dr. Livesey and the rest of these gentlemen having asked me to write down the whole particulars about Treasure Island, from the beginning to the end, keeping nothing back but the bearings of the island, and that only because there is still treasure not yet lifted, I take up my pen in the year of grace 17-- , and go back to the time when my father kept the 'Admiral Benbow' inn, and the brown old seaman, with the sabre cut, first took up his lodging under our roof.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1881)

We get letters

BOYS LOVED our Pirate Island adventure trail we were told but girls didnt use it so much when boys were around. Such is the nature of pirate hordes and the resulting plight of many a young damsel in distress. So we talked with customers and changed the shape of the play area and re-named it Dolphin Island. At which point things started to change for the better. More children began to use the adventure trail boys and girls alike. The nature of the games they devised also changed whilst the quality of the FUN derived, as minds and bodies were exercised anew, came as a breath of fresh air.

The point being?
